Description

I collabrated with DeWinder Architects for the Rocket Tower project in Berlin, to transform the GSW building complex into a dynamic workspace for Rocket Internet. Our goal was to upgrade interior spaces while preserving Sauerbruch Hutton's visionary ideas, creating ergonomic workplaces for 2,000 employees. We reorganized floor plans, opened up floors in the high-rise slab, and incorporated features like electric, height-adjustable desks.

Specific areas were designed for different departments, ensuring concentration-supporting retreats and open spaces for interaction. Central hubs like the 13th-floor auditorium and 16th-floor lounge area became focal points for team activities. The reception area on the 14th floor showcased elements from the former office cells, providing a distinct atmosphere. The 16th-floor lounge featured a Diner, Living Room, and Fireplace Room, serving as a versatile space for breaks, parties, or meetings. The Rocket Tower Conference Centre on the 1st floor preserved Sauerbruch Hutton's spatial geometry and became a modernized venue with cutting-edge conference technology. The ground-floor sports area, in collaboration with McFit Global Group GmbH, included a Cyberrobics video wall, and the 17th-floor Beta Space offered work units for start-ups.

Emphasizing a reduced palette of colors and materials, we aimed to make the building's "inner space" recognizable. This project revitalized the Rocket Tower, blending modern design with the architectural legacy of the building.
