Project:
Visitor Lounge & Foyer of a German Ministry Building
Year: 2014
Office: neo studio architects, Berlin
Description
I spearheaded the redesign of a German Ministry office building at Europahaus in Berlin with Neo Studio Architects. Our approach involved integrating three tension light boxes for a modern and dynamic ambiance, and a seating island with eight modular elements in the entrance area, combining aesthetics and functionality. The tension light boxes added sophistication and character to the space, while the modular seating island offered flexibility for diverse uses.
The foyer, characterized by numerous openings, the glass facade, and the elevator vestibule, is consolidated and calmed by a sequence of 3 atmospheric tension lightboxes. The view through the glass facade of the foyer into the green outdoor space creates references to the photographic plane, pointing into the distance. A high-quality sequence of images on the theme of biodiversity is juxtaposed against the glass facade. The central visitor lounge stages the arrival and stay in restrained
Through the reorganization of the visitor area and the complementary restrained design, it is significantly upgraded. A horizontal modular white wall element with 7 integrated monitors, featuring associative slideshows on the topic of Fair Trade, divides the space and forms a counterpoint to the large glass facade. The setting of a wall in a subdued warm gray tone supports the spatial effect and incorporates design motifs from the foyer. It is proposed to further enhance the reorganization of the space with new tables, new chairs, and a new podium.
